Temptress – a Brown Porter infused with cocoa and whole vanilla beans – is a luscious winter warmer that has garnered a cult following since release in 2008.

About
The Porter style has its origins in 18th century London where it was a dark malty brew for the working classes before pale malt and pale beer was possible through advances in technology. Founder Paul Holgate loved the history and taste of the Porter style and it was a favourite home brew in the Holgate household during the early 1990s. Paul’s classic Porter recipe was redesigned in 2008 with the Holgate brewing team bringing in an inspired addition of rich cocoa and whole vanilla beans to an already robust brew. Temptress has become a cult favourite with craft beer connoisseurs across the nation and regularly wins medals and trophies. Temptress also ranks highly on critics’ top-beer lists. This beer is a perfect accompaniment to meat pies and chocolate-based desserts.

Tasting Notes
This malt-driven beer is made extra special by the addition of Dutch cocoa and vanilla beans. The palate is complex with alluring chocolate, coffee and caramel underpinned by a hint of vanilla. Style English Brown Porter

About
Mt Macedon dominates the landscape overlooking the Holgate brewery. It’s massive, moody and magnificent – not to mention insanely popular with tourists and locals alike. It’s no wonder they named it after our beer!

Mt Macedon Pale Ale was first brewed in 2001 and was our 3rd beer to be released since start-up in 1999. Designed to be a refreshing, everyday pale ale with a balanced malt and hops profile with bright and fruity aromas from a mix of Australian hop varieties.

Tasting Notes
Australian Ale and Vienna malts give this beer a delicate caramel malt flavour. The malts are balanced by light hop character and tropical fruit aromas from a variety of Australian hops. The result is a pale ale of broad appeal which is, like the mountain, a local landmark.
